Investigations

Misconduct Investigations

Misconduct investigations require a careful, impartial, and thorough approach to ensure fair outcomes and protect the interests of all parties involved.  At Portree, our experienced team can undertake an external and independent investigation, or provide you with support to conduct your own internal investigation.   We have experience across a range of contexts, including the workplace, higher education, and research environments.

Melissa Stoney, our Principal, has over 20 years experience in the research and higher education section and is available to participate in research misconduct panels, includes both students and staff.

Workplace Misconduct Investigations

We assist organisations with all aspects of workplace misconduct investigations, including:

  • Advising on the most appropriate process to adopt for internal or external investigations.
  • Conducting independent investigations into allegations of misconduct, bullying, harassment, or breaches of policy.
  • Providing guidance on complaint management, procedural fairness, and reputational risk.
  • Preparing investigation reports and recommendations.
  • Supporting clients with communication and follow-up actions.

Our approach is impartial, methodical and sensitive to the needs of both the organisation and the individuals involved. We focus on ensuring that investigations are conducted fairly, efficiently, and in accordance with legal and organisational requirements.
